Elijah is two months old!!!

Happy Two Month Birthday Big Boy!!!

Elijah is such a sweet, sweet boy. He had his two month doctor’s visit today. He is weighing in at 12 lbs. 3 oz. and he is 22.75 inches long!! And to answer the second question on everyone’s mind, he’s sleeping so well at night. He’s averaging a 7-8 hour stretch without a feeding!! This is such a blessing and we say THANK YOU ELIJAH every morning! 🙂

Here are some sweet pictures of our big boy!

Elijah is beginning to smile a lot more frequently. We just can’t get enough of him! We actually miss him when he’s sleeping!

He is amazed with mommy’s hair. He watches it and it often makes him smile… 🙂

Don’t ya LOVE overalls on babies? Thanks to our friend Annie for this cute little outfit! So sweet!

I chose this outfit because we were going to dinner with some friends. Right before we left for dinner, I thought I should change his diaper. Right as I removed the diaper…Elijah had a “spray fest!” It was as if he hadn’t “gone” all day long! He just wouldn’t stop. Even when I thought he was finished, he had another round! It was crazy…like a fire hydrant! Needless to say his little outfit got all wet, and we had to choose another cute outfit for him. It’s o.k. At least I got some cute pictures of him in the overalls before the “spray fest” started!

We were thinking of giving Elijah some chocolate cake or pumpkin pie for his two month birthday extravaganza….but since we are in a recession I think we’ll just settle for formula. Oh well, maybe when he turns three months…

That’s all for now…til next time!

Fall Days with Elijah

Elijah is growing and becoming much more alert. He’s as sweet as he can be. The two questions that I get asked about Elijah every time I see someone is “How is he sleeping?” and “How much does he weigh?” Well, since we don’t have a scale in our house, we will have to wait until next week’s two month doctor’s visit to get an accurate weigh in…but I’m guessing around 10lbs. 5 oz., but that’s just a guess. As for the sleeping question, Elijah has had several nights where he has slept 7 hours in between feedings. For instance, last night he ate at 10:30pm and slept until 5:30am, when he was ready for his next feeding. He then went back to sleep and slept until 7:30am. This is after sleeping about seven hours during the day. Tonight is another night and could be a different story…we’ll see…but I’m praying for at least 7 hours again. 🙂

Here are some recent pictures:

Here’s Elijah in his activity gym

He loves his activity gym where he plays content for a while

Elijah is very active with his arms…I think he might be an orchestra conductor and Aaron thinks he’ll be a basketball player…only time will tell.

This is my favorite position with Elijah…he’s very cuddly.

Aaron is loving being a daddy…I think Elijah really loves his daddy too!

We thought this picture was interesting…Aaron doesn’t even look real. He kind of looks angelic!

Mama’s sweet boy.

All of these pictures are from a fall festival in Leesburg, VA which is where my brother lives. It was a fun day filled with kettle corn and funnel cakes. I’m not sure Elijah really knew what was going on, but mom and dad had a nice time.

Looking up to see what Mommy’s doing (or eating).

Such a big boy

Aaron wanted to put Elijah’s burp cloth around his head…not too sure about daddy…

If you can disregard the eye boogers, you can see Elijah’s sweet smile. He is smiling a lot more lately…and I don’t think it is just gas. For instance the other morning I went in to see if he was awake. His eyes were struggling to wake up, but he smiled when I started talking to him. So, maybe it is gas, but I choose to believe that he is happy to hear my voice! 🙂

The Shack…a must read!

When it comes to genre of books I like to read, I am all over the map. I decided to read The Shack because it was a #1 Bestseller and I heard God was a character…I was intrigued. It is a quick read, although with a new infant, it took me a little longer than I expected. It was such an interesting book, that I just had to write a blog post about it.

If you are a fan of C. S. Lewis, then you will most likely take a liking to The Shack. Now, William Young is no C. S. Lewis, but he does make some difficult theological principles easy to grasp. He makes God come to life in a way that will transform how you interact with God. The trinity is presented in a new fresh way that will encourage your soul and give you a renewed sense of relationship. The Shack is appropriately descriptive and will give you a glimpse into the world God sees. It is an amazing read that is certain to bless your soul! Enjoy!!
